Representatives of the Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the National Commission on Irrigation and Drainage of Tajikistan, at the invitation of Dr. Safdar Niazi Shahraki, Deputy Minister of Water and Soil Resources of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad of the Islamic Republic of Iran, participated in the IFARM 2024 Agricultural Exhibition. The event took place from September 24 to 27, 2024, in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran. The delegation included Deputy Director of the Agency Zuhurzoda B.T. and Secretary of the National Commission on Irrigation and Drainage Gaforzoda B.A.
The main purpose of participating in the exhibition was to explore opportunities for cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran in the development of land reclamation and irrigation sectors, as well as to prepare and implement joint projects focused on introducing water-saving and energy-efficient technologies. The Tajik delegation had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with modern technologies and advanced equipment presented by local and international companies for agricultural development, land reclamation, and irrigation.
During the exhibition, the delegation met with various manufacturers and suppliers of equipment for land reclamation and irrigation, discussing the prospects of implementing these technologies in Tajikistan. In addition, field visits were organized to pumping stations and private agricultural development projects. The delegation also studied the activities of research institutes that play an important role in improving water resource efficiency in agriculture and developing and implementing high-performance technological equipment for the land reclamation and irrigation sectors.
The representatives of the Agency also visited the National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage of Iran, where they learned about the committee’s activities within the framework of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID).
At the end of the visit, a joint meeting of delegations from the two countries was held, during which prospects for bilateral cooperation were discussed. An agreement was reached to draft a Memorandum of Understanding and proceed with its signing in the near future. This working visit facilitated experience exchange and the study of modern technologies in the field of land reclamation and irrigation. It will serve as a foundation for developing and implementing joint investment projects in Tajikistan.
